Cletrac 20 K –
The Oliver “Cletrac” tractor is actually not a particular tractor. Instead, it’s a result of the merging of two tractor companies: the Oliver Corporation and the Cleveland Motor Plow Co. The Cleveland Motor Plow Co. (or or Cletrac) as founded in 1916, while the Oliver Company was founded in 1929. Cletrac was actually a company that was involved with producing tractors (crawler type ones, to be exact) for the government, although generally they produced tractors for general farm use. Its sterling sales record is unparalleled: it sold more than 40,000 tractors in one decade alone—an achievement for any company in the industry. Cletrac sold tractors in over 70 countries.
Because of the merger, Oliver Cletrac made amazing lines of tractors, as well as other products, although some weren’t meant with success. The company produced tractors such as the Oliver 60, Oliver 70, and Oliver 80 tractors—all of them succeed in the market. Their diesel engines, however, weren’t quite a hit. Later tractors made by the company during the 1948-1954 were made available in diesel and gasoline engines, proving that the company can keep up with the times. In 1954, Oliver Cletrac made the Oliver Super 55—a compact utility tractor.
